The ability to customize views of application data in PPM gives you great flexibility and allows you to organize your data in ways that make the most sense to you, based on your needs. Custom views can be personal, which allows each user to create their own views of data.
Options for customizing views depend on your individual permissions and on the type of view, but include specifying the data fields that display, how they are arranged, including sorting, grouping and filtering options, view naming, and, with the appropriate permissions, sharing with other users.
With appropriate permissions you can create custom views for different PPM applications:
- Views for Global Applications—Global applications are accessible from tabs at the top of the main PPM window and include both native and dynamic (custom) applications. .
- Views for dynamic applications within workspaces—Dynamic applications accessed from the Workspace Menu within workspaces also support custom views. These may be specific to a workspace (workspace-level dynamic applications) or enterprise-level applications that have been included in a workspace. If the dynamic application is an enterprise application and has the global tab enabled, custom views are shared at the workspace level and the global tab level..
For more information about how permissions impact custom views, see Permissions and Custom Views.
A third type of custom view is also available:
- Views for applications supporting in-line editing— are customized differently than other applications. For more information about customizing these types of views, see Customizing Editable Item List Views.
