PPM approvals can help to
facilitate collaboration and communication between team members.
There are several types of approvals, and how an item is approved depends on what type of item being approved and what the kind of approval submitted:
- Approvals using Policies—Timesheets and Requests use approval policies that define whether or not an item needs approval, and if it does, who the approval is sent to. In addition, within workspaces can have approval policies defined (if they do not, ad hoc approvals are available).
- Timesheet approval policies are defined by an administrator. For more information, see Timesheet Approval Settings.
- Request approval policies are defined by an administrator. For more information, see Creating a Request Approval Policy.
- Dynamic Application approval policies are optional and can be defined on the workspace level by a project manager. For more information, see Setting an Approval Policy for Dynamic Applications.
- Ad Hoc Approvals—Documents, Timesheets (if no approval policy has been defined) and Dynamic Applications (from the global tab, or within a workspace if no workspace-level approval policy has been defined) provide an ad hoc approval process that gives you the ability to submit a new document, timesheet or dynamic application for approval on creation. For more information, see Submitting an Item for Ad Hoc Approval.
When
you create, edit or update items, such as documents, you can
choose to submit the items to other workspace members or supervisors for
approval. Giving or getting feedback through approvals can help keep a
workspace on track.
Use the Approvals tab to manage your approvals. For more information, see About the Approvals Tab.
