Billing Rate Inheritance - Overview
|
Billing rates can be applied at various levels, either by
assigning a rate from the list of billing rates, or by assigning a manual
rate. At any level, if a billing rate is not explicitly assigned, it is inherited
from the next level of generality. The path of inheritance (where a rate is inherited
from) depends on if a rate is internal or external.
Administrators can apply billing rates to Resource Type, Resource (user
or external resource), Resource Requirement, Workspace Member, and Task.
In general, the inheritance of billing rates moves from Resource Type
down to Task.
Hierarchy of Billing Rates Inheritance:
- Resource
Type—If
a resource type is not assigned an internal and external billing rate,
the rates default to 0.
- Resource—If a resource
(enterprise user or external resource) is not assigned internal and external
billing rates, the rates are inherited from the associated resource type.
If the resource is not assigned to a resource type, the billing rates
for the resource default to 0.
- Resource
Requirement—If
a resource requirement is not assigned an external billing rate, the resource
requirement inherits its external rate from the resource associated with
the requirement. A resource requirement always inherits its internal rate.
- Workspace
Member—If
a workspace member is not assigned an external billing rate, the member
inherits its rate from the rate of the resource (enterprise user/external
resource).
- Tasks—If a task
does not have an external billing rate assigned to it, the task inherits
its external rate from the workspace member assigned to the task.
