Creating a Discussion from the Discussions Tab

You can use the global Discussions application to create
a discussion in any of the workspaces you are a member of.
Note: Project managers
and other team members with administrative permissions may find it more
convenient to use the workspace-level Discussions application for creating
and managing discussions. For information about how global applications
and workspace-level applications compare, see Applications
Overview.
To create a discussion from the Discussions tab:
- .
- On the Tab Toolbar, click
Create Discussion.
The Create New Discussion window opens.
- From the Create
In list, select the workspace in which you want to initiate a discussion.
The default workspace is the workspace you selected the last time you created
a discussion.
- Type the name of the discussion
in the Topic text box.
- Select the folder in which
the discussion should be stored from the Folder list.
Note: If no folders have been created, the default General folder
is your only option. For details about application category folders, see
Creating Folders.
- Type a discussion message
in the Message text box. This
message is the beginning of the discussion and is what other team members
will respond to.
- In the Notifications
&Permissions section,
select the team members who can view the discussion, and the team members
to be notified that the discussion has been created. For more information, see About Notifications and Permissions.
- If you want to include
a custom notification message, select the Type
Custom Notification Message checkbox and type the message in the
Notification Message box.
This comment is included in the notification that is sent to users
selected in the Notifications & Permissions
section.
- Click Save
& Close to save the discussion and close the window. Click
Save & Add Another to
save the discussion and begin another discussion. Click Cancel
to cancel the discussion.
Note: The new discussion
will not appear in the list until you refresh the list by clicking the
Discussions tab.
