Note: You only see
this step of the wizard if you are an administrator, or you are creating a dynamic application view and have the permission.
In the Distribution step of the Custom View wizard, specify
how you want to distribute the view. Options include: distribute to
groups of users based on their enterprise roles, distribute to selected individual
users or, make the view private. Which combination of these options you see depends on your permissions and what kind of view you are creating.
TO select how to distribute the view:
- Choose the method you want
to use to distribute the custom view:
- Private View—This is an option only when you are creating a dynamic application view in the main PPM window (not in the Administrative Zone). Note: A private view is the only option if you do not see the distribution page.
If you make a view private:
- The view is visible just to you.
- You can edit/update
the view.
- By Role—This is an option in the Administrative Zone, or if you are creating a dynamic application view from the global tab and have the permission for the application.
If you distribute
the view by role:
- Any future users
added with the role will inherit the view.
- You continue to own the view and can edit/update
the view, with all users of the role inheriting the updated view.
- Users of the role
can copy the view and create a personal version of it (if they have the
permission),
but they cannot change the original view. (If they create a personal copy of the view, any subsequent changes you make to the view are not reflected in their copy.)
- You can assign the view as default for the role if it is a global application view. Workspace application custom views cannot be assigned as default.
- By User—This is an option in the Administrative Zone or when you are creating a dynamic application view in the main PPM window (either at the global tab or within a workspace) and have the permission for the application.
If you distribute
the view by specific user:
- Each user is given
a copy of the view which they can modify (if they have the permission for the application).
- Individual users can edit/update
their copies of the view.
- You can assign the view as the default view for the role if it is a global application view. Workspace application custom views cannot be assigned as default.
