Creating a Home View

Within the Home application, you can create new Home views and switch between multiple views. You might want to create a new view to make an existing Home view smaller and to organize information in ways that work best for you.

To create a Home view:

  1. Open the global Home application.
  2. Click Create New Home View on the Tab Toolbar.
The Create New Home View screen displays. The Create New Home View screen includes 2 areas:
  3. Template list—This includes the layout templates you can choose from when designing your new view. By default the 50-50 template layout is selected.
  4. Components lists and Organizing stage—Choose components (panes) for the new view from the component list and drag them to the organizing stage where you can order them as you want.
  1. If you want a layout other than the default 50-50 layout, select a template from the template list.
To select a template, click the template.
  2. Type a name for the new view in the Name box.
  3. If you want the view to be your default view, select Set as Default.
  4. Select components (panes) you want to include in the view:
  5. Some panes, like Appointments and Favorite Workspaces, can only be included once in any single view. These components have this icon:

When you drag one of these panes to the organizing stage, the component is grayed out in the list (you cannot add it to the current view a second time). You can include as many different single occurrence panes as you want, but each pane can only be included once on each view. For detailed information about Home panes, see About Home Panes.

  6. Other components, like Report Viewer, can be included multiple times in a dashboard and are marked with this icon:

You can drag the Report Viewer to the organizing stage one or more times.
The viewer is empty until you add a report to it. After creating and saving a view that includes the report viewer, you must add a report to the viewer. For more information about the Report Viewer dashboard pane, see Dashboard Report Viewer.

Note: You must have the Report Viewer permission to include use the report viewer. By default all PPM users have this permission. If you do not see a Report Viewer component in your list, you do not have the Report Viewer permission.

  1. Use the organizing stage to create the layout for your view.
  2. Drag components to different locations to reorder them.
  3. Select a different layout template to see different organizing options.
  4. Delete an unwanted component by clicking the Delete icon on the upper right corner of the component.
  1. Click Save to save the new view and return to the Home page (the new view is automatically displayed). To discard the new view, click Cancel.
