Workspace status updates are a way to inform interested parties about the progress of a workspace. Some organizations require regular updates on workspaces. Others may leave the update to the project manager's discretion, giving them the flexibility to do a status update only when something has changed.
Updating status also updates calculated data related to the status of the workspace. This data is displayed where the workspace status is shown (including the workspace Home, various Status windows, the Status History, and the Status Update window of a workspace. These calculated fields are updated when you perform a status update and include Total Actual Labor Cost and Total Actual Work.
Note: The Planned Labor Cost and Planned Labor Revenue fields are calculated whenever the task schedule is updated or billing rates are changed. Status windows will always display the results of the last completed calculation. If a change causes a recalculation, the results will not be reflected in Status windows until the calculations are complete.
