Rich Text Control Tool

Reports written in Report Studio can display workspace update notes with most of their applied formatting preserved. Only hyperlinks are not preserved because Cognos Reporting does not support them. Rich text update notes can be added to reports with the following query subjects:

[Last Rich Text Status Update Notes] under Projects
[Rich Text Update Notes] under Project History

Once one of these query subjects is added to the report, the Cognos rich text control tool also needs to be added to the report in order to display the formatting properly. Without applying this tool, the report will display the update notes with the markup used to apply formatting instead of the actual formatting.

To use the rich text control:

Add one of the rich text query subjects to the report.
Open the toolbox and drag the rich text item tool into the report. It appears as a new column in the report.
In the tool's Properties, under HTML Source, map the query subject to the rich text control tool:
1. Set the Source Type to Data Item Value.
2. Set the Data Item Value to the rich text query subject.
Remove the query subject from the report. Data from the query subject will be displayed in the rich text control column.

When the report is run, the workspace status update notes will be displayed with their applied formatting.
