Responding to a Discussion

 

Discussions are used to help team members organize ideas concerning a specific area of the project. When a discussion is open, you can respond to the original post and to responses made by other team members.  

To RESPOND TO a discussion:

  1. Navigate to the discussion application..
    You can do this from either the Discussions application or the Discussions View within the Projects application for a specific project.
  2. Open the Discussion Details window for the discussion by clicking the discussion name.
  3. Do one of the following:
  4. To reply to the original discussion post, click the Actions icon next to the first item in the discussion thread, then click Add Response.
    The original discussion post is marked with a yellow icon.
  5. To reply to a specific response, click the Actions icon  next to the response in the discussion thread, then click Add Response. Responses are indented below the original discussion post.
  1. To change the topic, type a new name for the response in the Reply Topic text box.
    By default the topic name is RE:<original discussion name>.
  2. Select the type of response from the Type text box. Response type options are FYI, Question, and Answer.
    Note:
    The type of response affects the icon displayed next to your response. For details about response types and icons, see Discussions Overview.
  3. Type your response in the Reply Message text box.
  4. In the Notifications section, click Browse Member Directory to select team members to be notified of your response. For more information on using the Member Director, see Using the User Selector.
  5. If you want to include a custom notification message, select Type Custom Notification Message and In the Notification Message box, type your message to be included with the notification sent to the selected team members.
  6. Click Save & Close to save the discussion and close the window. Click Save & Add Another  to save the discussion and begin another discussion. Click Cancel to cancel the discussion.
