Moving Tasks in the Task List

 

With the appropriate permissions, you can move project tasks in the Task List. By default the ability to do this is limited to team members with the project-level project manager role.

You cannot move a task if another user has the schedule locked.

To move tasks in the Task List:

  1. Navigate to the Project in which you are moving a task.
  2. On the Project Menu, click Tasks and Task List.
  3. Move your cursor over the # for the task you want to move. The cursor turns into a hand.
  4. Click and drag the task to its new location.
    The task is moved to the new location and task numbers are adjusted based on the new order of tasks.

Note: You can only move one task at a time. If you have multiple tasks selected, only the top task is moved.
