The third step in creating a Custom Workspace Display Name
is to create a concatenated field that contains the contents of the Text
field and the Item Number field you created. Once you have created the
concatenated field, it appears in the Set
Custom Display Field list when you edit a workspace type.
Note: This procedure
assumes a familiarity with the Custom Field Wizard and does not go into
detail about all the options the wizard contains. For more detailed information
about creating custom fields, see Creating
Custom Workspace Type Fields.
To create an Auto Name Number concatenated field:
- In Step
1 of the wizard:
- Give the field
a name.
The name should be descriptive so you can identify it in the Set Custom Display Field list. For example, Workspace-name-concat.
- Specify that it
is a Required field.
- Specify that it
is a Profile field.
- Select the workspace
type in which the field should be included.
Note: You should select the same workspace type you selected for
the Text field.
- In Step
2, specify that the field is a Calculation
field.
- In Step
3, specify that the field is a Concatenated
field.
- In Step
4:
- Select the Text
field you created (Workspace_auto-name_start in
this example) and double-click to move it to the Concatenation
Formula list.
- Double-click the
Item Number field you created (Workspace_auto-name_number
in this example) to add it to the Concatenation Formula
list.
- Click Save
& Finish to save the new field.
