Custom Workspace Names Step 4: Configuring a Display Name
|

|
The fourth and final step in creating a Custom Workspace Display
Name is configuring the new display name for the workspace type. The new
display name will be the concatenated custom field you created in Step
3.
Configure the display name by editing the workspace type.
Important: When you change the
Custom Display Field for an existing workspace type,
you change the names for all existing workspaces and requests created
from that type. Original workspace and request names are overwritten
and cannot be recovered. See Step 3 below for more information.
To configure a custom Workspace display name:
- In the Administration Home
page, under Workspace Types, click
Workspace Type List.
- Click the workspace type
for which you want to configure the display name.
The Edit Workspace Type page displays.
- From the Set
Custom Display Field list, select the concatenated custom field
you created in Step
3.
Note: The custom field only appears in the list if you added
it to the current workspace type when you created the field. If you do not
see your custom concatenated field listed, you did not add it to the workspace type you are currently editing.
Important: If you are
editing a workspace type from which existing workspaces have already been
created, changing the Custom Display
Field will permanently change the names of the existing workspaces.
See About Auto-Workspace Naming
for more information.
- In the Next
Item Number box, type a number with which to start the automatic
numbering sequence.
Note: If you are creating a new workspace type, type the number
in the Item Number Seed Value
box.
- In the Workspace
Item Number Incrementer Value box, type a number for the increment
between automatically generated numbers.
- Click Save
to save the changes to the workspace type.
