Creating a Dynamic Application - Data Fields
|
The Data Fields tab allows you to specify the fields included
in your dynamic application. You give the fields names and define the
type of data that can be entered in them.
Note: By default
each dynamic application includes system-generated Created
By and Created On fields.
If you create custom fields with these names you will have duplicate fields
when you create custom views for your dynamic application.
To create a NEW Dynamic Application - Data fields
tab
- On the Data Fields tab, for each field you want to add to the item:
- Type the name of the first application field in the Name
box.
Note: If you give a custom field the same name as a native field (if you name a workspace custom field Budget for example), the native field is no longer accessible using PPM reports, and any reports using the field will display data from the custom field instead. Renaming the custom field to a unique name corrects the problem.
- From the Type
list, select the type of information that will be entered into the field.
Depending on the type of field selected, you must specify additional options.
For more information about the different types of field and the options
to enter, see Types of Custom Fields.
Important: If you are editing
an existing custom field, see Editing Custom Fields.
- To add the field to the
dynamic application, click Add.
The field is listed in the Custom Fields
box. To edit or remove a field, select it in the Custom
Fields box and click Edit
or Remove.
Note: If you are adding a Pick List, an Options section displays when you add the pick list to the dynamic application. For details on configuring a pick list field, see Dynamic Application Wizard: Configuring a Pick List Field.
- To specify the order that
fields appear in the dynamic application, select a field in the Custom Fields list and click Top,
Up, Down,
or Bottom to reposition the field.
