Creating a Dynamic Application - General Information

The General tab is the first page of the Create Dynamic Application wizard. On the General tab, enter details like the name and description of the application you are creating.

Note: How you start the Dynamic Application wizard depends on what kind of dynamic application you are creating. See Creating an Enterprise Dynamic Application and Creating a Workspace-Level Dynamic Application.

To create a Dynamic Application - GENERAL TAB:

  1. On the General tab, type the name of the new dynamic application in the Application Name box.

Important: Do not give your application a name that duplicates a query subject or folder name in the Reporting Data Model (for example, Requirements or Resource Management). If your dynamic application name duplicates a Data Model query subject or folder name, data in reports for your application can appear incorrect. For details on data model names, see Data Model Overview and its subtopics.
  2. In the Item Name box, type a name for the items that will be created using the dynamic application.
For example, if the dynamic application will be used to track customer contact details, type 'Customer Record'.
  3. Type a description of the dynamic application in the Description box.
  4. External ID—Leave the External ID blank unless you are integrating with an external system and know what ID you should use.
  5. If you are creating an enterprise-level (global) application:

Select Enable Global Tab if the application should be accessible from a global tab.Note: You need to do this if you imported an enterprise-level application and want it to appear as a global tab.
  6. To add the Folder View screen to the dynamic application, select the Enable Folder View check box. The Folder View screen allows users to organize dynamic application items in folders.
  7. Select Enable Item Responses if you want to give workspace members the ability to post responses to  items created with the dynamic application. Enabling item responses for a dynamic application has the following impact to PPM:
  8. The Actions menu for each application item includes an Add Response option.
  9. The Item Details window includes a Response History tab that lists any responses made about the item.

  1. Click the Data Field Selection tab to continue building the dynamic application. See the Data Field Selection topic for more information.

This topic provides help for the General tab of the Dynamic Application wizard.  For help on another tab, click the name of the tab.
