Managing Rate Categories |
The administrator manages rate categories, creating, editing, and deleting them as necessary.
Rate categories are used to group rates together. How you choose to do this (what categories you create) depends on your business and the work you do. Commonly a administrator first creates rate categories, then billing rates. You should give some thought to how you want to organize your rates so that they make the most sense to you.
One approach is to create rate categories based on general skill areas, and then create rates for different skill levels within those categories. For example, you could create a rate category called Development, and rates within that category called Jr. Programmer, Programmer, Sr. Programmer, etc.
Another approach is to create rate categories for your different customers, and rates for the work you do for those customers. For example, you could create a category called Acme Inc, and create rates for Project Management, Testing, and Development.
