Creating a Dynamic Application

Dynamic applications are powerful, custom applications you can create. Unlike native PPM applications, you can export dynamic applications as XML files, with or without data. This means you can create a custom dynamic application in one enterprise or workspace, export the application, and import it into another enterprise or workspace.

There are two types of dynamic applications:

For details on these types, see Types of Dynamic Applications.

Creating a Dynamic Application

The process of creating a dynamic application involves up to 9 steps in the Create Dynamic Application wizard. The steps include:

  1. Providing general information about the application.
  2. Creating custom data fields for the dynamic application.
  3. Configuring pick list fields (if applicable).
  4. Configuring custom field properties.
  5. Configuring status fields (if applicable).
  6. Defining formulas for calculation fields (if applicable).
  7. Specifying application permissions.
  8. Choosing an application icon.
  9. Previewing the application.

Note: You may not go through every step.

Once the application is created, your team members can access it and add items based on your definition.
