Why Select a Task Calendar?

In most cases, project managers can create and schedule their tasks without needing to change the default behavior of PPM. In other situations, you may need a non-default calendar for a specific task or set of tasks.

If you are creating or editing a task that needs to be done over a weekend or on another non-working day (as defined by your default workweek calendar), you can select an alternate calendar that includes weekend days as valid work days. Doing this tells PPM to include weekend days when determining when the task will start and end.

For example, if you have a network upgrade that must take place over a weekend, you might select a weekend-only calendar or a 7-day calendar which will then allow you to set the Planned Start and/or Planned Finish on weekend dates.

Note: Your PPM administrator must create the calendars before you can select them from the calendar list.
