A baseline is a snapshot of a schedule between defined points in time. Baselines are used to track and compare original schedules with later versions in order to gain a better idea of how changes will affect the workspace. This comparison can give you more control over dates and a more accurate portrayal of status.
You can track baselines throughout the duration of a workspace life cycle, with one or more snapshots as changes occur. Each workspace can have a multiple baselines, defined by different pairs of points in time.
PPM users with appropriate permissions (usually project managers or higher) can create and delete baselines from either the Baseline View or the Gantt Chart Sidebar.
Note: You can edit a baseline name and description, but editing does not allow you to change any information in the baseline itself.
