Troubleshoooting Excel Task Imports

• Task Name is always a required field. You must map a column to Task Name.
• If you are importing tasks and assignments, your file must have an Assignee column and the column must be populated.
• When mapping a column to a pick list field, all entries in the column must be an exact match for an option in the pick list.
• When importing tasks with Must Start On and Must Finish On constraints, you must include an additional column for the Constraint Dates.

• The numeric and date formats used in the Excel file must match the numeric and date formats used by your PPM culture settings.
• If you are mapping a column to the Outline field, the column entries must formatted as text, not as a number. Additionally, this column cannot have duplicate entries.
• When importing task constraints, only the following entries are valid for import:
  • None
  • As Soon as Possible
  • Must Start On
  • Must Finish On

The following field types are not supported for Excel task import:

• Multi-select pick list fields
• Predecessor fields
• The native Duration field. This will be calculated automatically according to the task schedule.
