Task Import is a one-time process you can use to quickly build a PPM project schedule using a Microsoft Excel file or Microsoft Project schedule. This process is not a synchronization. Changes made to the task schedule after the import is complete will not be reflected in the original file. In order to import tasks into a workspace, you must be a member of the workspace and the "Can Update All Tasks" permission enabled for your workspace role. Additionally, the task schedule must not be locked or checked out. You can import tasks from the following types of file:

If the import is successful, you can return to the task list. If there are any errors in your Excel file data, the import will fail and the rows with errors will be listed. For more information about resolving errors in your Excel import file, see Excel Task Import Troubleshooting.
