Synchronizing Task Data with ProjectTransit

When you synchronize your Microsoft Project schedule with your PPM schedule, you update Microsoft Project with task data from PPM and your PPM schedule with task data from Project.

Note: ProjectTransit does not support synchronization of nested projects.

First Synchronization

The first time you synchronize your Microsoft Project schedule and your PPM schedule, existing data is copied from each schedule to the other.

Note: ProjectTransit does not check for duplicate tasks. If you have the same tasks in both Microsoft Project and PPM prior to the initial synchronization, those tasks will be duplicated in both Project and PPM unless you unselect them so they are not included.)

Any existing PPM tasks are selected to be copied to the Microsoft Project schedule. A list of PPM tasks to be copied displays in ProjectTransit. For details on how task data is mapped between PPM and Project, see Mapped Fields.

You can unselect any that PPM tasks you do not want to include in the synchronization. Any task you unselect will be permanently deleted in PPM. Note: If you unselect a PPM task that has actual work associated with it, you need to confirm that you want to permanently delete the task and its work.
All tasks (if any) in the Microsoft Project schedule are copied to PPM.
This is a mandatory step. You cannot skip it or choose which tasks should be copied. For details on how task data is mapped between Microsoft Project and PPM, see Mapped Fields.

Note: Ensure the start date of the MSP project is on or before the earliest task start date for the tasks in PPM prior to initial sync.

Subsequent Synchronizations

With every subsequent synchronization, tasks in both the Microsoft Project schedule and the PPM schedule are updated to match.

During these synchronizations you:

Any edits to the schedule in Microsoft Project are copied to the PPM schedule.
Any updates to tasks in PPM are copied to the Project schedule.
