About Task Edit and Task Update
|
In PPM there is a distinct difference between the process of updating a task and that of editing a task. To make the most of PPM, it is important to understand how these differ.
Editing a Task
- Editing a task—Editing a task is normally done by project managers or other users responsible for maintaining a project schedule.
When you edit a task you change task detail information. Editing a task gives you access to the same fields as when you initially create (add) a task. The ability to edit project tasks is controlled by the project-level permission. By default only Project Managers in a project have this permission.
If a project schedule is locked (by ProjectTransit or by another project manager), you cannot add, delete or edit any tasks in the schedule.
For more information about editing tasks, see Editing a Task.
Updating a Task
- Updating a task—Team members assigned to a task usually update the task to reflect the work they have done on it. Adding hours worked changes the work remaining on the task.
You can update tasks even if a schedule is locked.
For more information about updating tasks, see Updating a Task.
