Changepoint PPM is designed to be user-friendly and allow you to work with little background
or knowledge, but a basic understanding some simple concepts will make
your experience more successful.
Key topics for learning to use Changepoint PPM:
- Changepoint
PPM—PPM
is an integrated system with several distinct areas, all of which work
together. For a brief overview of the main window and basic screen areas,
see Changepoint PPM Overview.
- Navigating—Designed for
the user, PPM has navigational elements that are intuitive and easy
to use. For overview information about navigating, see Navigating in Changepoint PPM.
- Your
Changepoint PPM experience—
PPM is a very large system of applications that work together. Each PPM
user will only see some of the full capabilities of the entire system.
What you see in PPM, and what you can do, depends on your user role.
If you are a project manager, your needs differ from an Executive and
from team members.
- Project
Managers—Project
managers need detailed access to the workspaces they are responsible for.
A project manager using PPM will have access to more of the features
and functionality than other types of PPM users. For detailed information
about using PPM as a project manager, see Using
PPM as a Project Manager.
- Workspace
Members—Workspace
members are responsible for getting their tasks completed, and for resolving
any issues that have been assigned to them. They need quick and easy access
to the details of their tasks and issues, as well as any updated document
related to their work. For detailed information about using PPM as
a workspace member, see Using
PPM as a Workspace Member.
- Executives—Executives
need overview information about all the workspaces in their portfolio. These
decision makers want to quickly determine which workspaces are worth continuing
and which need to be scaled back or put on hold. The information to make
these kinds of high-level decisions is available from the Executive
application. For detailed information about using PPM
as an Executive, see Using
PPM as an Executive.
- Guests—Project guests
have special needs. Guests are typically outside professionals who are
brought in to help on specific aspects of a workspace. They do not need
extensive access to all aspects of the workspace, and they may only have
access to PPM for a limited time. For detailed information about using
PPM as a guest, see Using
PPM as a Guest.
