About Workspace Health |
Every workspace has a health status. The health of a workspace is an indication of the overall status of that workspace and can be used to quickly determine if a workspace is doing well or is having problems. Workspace health status options include:
By default, a project manager updates workspace health status manually.
An administrator can create an Auto Health Update rule that updates the health of a workspace automatically. Auto Health Update rules are configured by workspace type and apply to all workspaces of that type. You can base Auto Health Update rules on conditions related to Task schedule, Approvals, or Issues.
When an Auto Health Update rule is created, once the conditions are met, the workspace's health is updated automatically, based on the conditions. The project manager can still update health manually, but the way those updates are handled depends on the workspace's Auto Health settings.

If more than one condition is defined for a workspace type, the health of any workspace of that type reflects the least healthy condition that has been met.
For example, if one condition rule determines the workspace health status is Needs Attention, and a second rule determines the workspace health status is In Trouble, the second rule overrides the first and the workspace health status is shown as In Trouble.
Workspace Health status for parent workspaces is determined by the health of child workspaces. Auto Health Update rules and manual Health Updates do not apply to a parent workspace. The Health of a parent workspace is determined by the least healthy condition of any of its child workspaces. See About Workspace Hierarchy.
For example, if a Program contains three workspaces, and one of those workspaces have a Health status of In Trouble, the Health status of the Program is also In Trouble. There are no exceptions to this rule.
Health status for a parent workspace is updated automatically (you cannot manually update health for a parent workspace ).
