The Enterprise Workweek Calendar

The workweek calendar defines the workweek schedule for enterprise users.

This information is used by scheduling and resource planning features in PPM when making calendar-based and resource allocation calculations.

By default, PPM uses a calendar of 8 hours a day, 5 days a week (Monday through Friday). You can modify this calendar but cannot delete it. If you change the default calendar you impact any areas of PPM that use the calendar, including scheduling and resource allocation. PPM users are assigned to the default calendar unless you create additional calendars and assign them to one of these. See Creating a Non-Default Workweek Calendar and Editing the Default Workweek Calendar for more information.

Project managers can use custom calendars if they need to schedule tasks over non-standard work days. For example, by default task scheduling uses the default enterprise workweek calendar to determine task duration and the availability of team members on a day-by-day basis. When you create alternate calendars (a weekend-only calendar, or a 7days x 8 hours calendar, for example), project managers can assign these to a task and set task start or finish dates to weekend days. For more information about calendars and tasks, see About Task Calendars. Note: Assigning a task calendar has no impact to resource capacity calculations. Resource capacity is determined based on the workweek calendar to which a resource is assigned.

You can also create and assign global nonworking time to enterprise calendars. You might do this for dates you know are not work dates for your organization (company holidays, for example). For more information, see Global Nonworking Time Overview.
