About Schedule Adjustments
|
If an external factor (a change to nonworking time for example) affects your project schedule, a message displays when you navigate to the Workspace Home Page:
"This schedule is affected by external factors such as Nonworking Time. Would you like to create a baseline and adjust the schedule?"
Your options are to:
- Adjust Schedule—Click this to have PPM automatically adjust any impacted tasks. PPM automatically creates a baseline of your original schedule before making the adjustments.
- Ignore—Click this to permanently dismiss the message without any adjustments. You will not be warned again about the impact to the schedule, unless there are further changes to external factors. Any tasks you edit are adjusted automatically if adjustment is necessary.
- Remind me later—Click this to dismiss the message without adjustments. The message will display again the next time you navigate to the Workspace Home Page. Any tasks you edit are adjusted automatically if adjustment is necessary.
Note: On the Task List View, the options are:
- Yes—Adjusts any impacted tasks.
- No—Dismisses the message without making any adjustments. The message will not display again. (This is the equivalent of Ignore above.) Any tasks you edit are adjusted automatically if adjustment is necessary.
What Causes the Message
There are several circumstances that can result in a message that your schedule may have been changed:
- Nonworking Time—If a new instance of nonworking time impacts existing tasks in your workspace, PPM offers to adjust the schedule. This would happen if nonworking time is added to a task assignee's workweek calendar. If you opt to not adjust the schedule no changes are made, but if you edit an affected task it is adjusted to account for any applicable nonworking time.
Note: Any tasks added after the nonworking time are automatically adjusted to take that nonworking time into account. For more information about nonworking time and schedules, see Nonworking Time Overview.
- Task Import—If you import tasks from Microsoft Project, PPM offers to adjust the schedule. For more information about importing projects from Microsoft Project, see Importing Tasks from Microsoft Project.
- ProjectTransit Synchronization End—If your project schedule has been synchronized with Microsoft Project using ProjectTransit and the synchronization is ended, PPM may offer to adjust the project schedule. For more information, see Overriding a ProjectTransit Schedule Synchronization. Note: Ending ProjectTransit synchronization does not always result in a message about PPM schedule adjustment. Your schedule may be adjusted without warning.
