Keyboard Shortcuts (Pick Lists)

 

Keyboard users can take advantage of keyboard support when working in the workspace-level Task List and Item List views.

Note: When you first open a List view, you need to tab into it or click a row in order to use keyboard shortcuts.

Entering Edit Mode

 

Note: Editable fields are automatically put into edit mode when using the Add or Update panes.

  • Select a cell (tab to it or click it with the mouse) and press Enter
  • Double-click on a cell
  • Click the drop down icon (displays dropdown list of options)
   
Selecting an Option
(from the complete option list)
  • Click option with the mouse
  • Selects option, closes list and commits (single-select list)
  • Selects option, leaves list open for additional selections (multi-select list)
    Note: Pressing Enter on an already-selected option clears that option.

With the option highlighted:

  • Spacebar
  • Selects option, closes list and commits (single-select list)
  • Selects option, leaves list open (multi-select list)
  • Enter, Tab or Shift+Tab
  • Selects option, closes list and commits (single-select list)
  • Selects option and closes list, adds option to cell and leaves cell in edit-mode (multi-select list)
    Note: Pressing Enter on an already-selected option clears that option.
   
Selecting an Option

Note: Open auto-complete list of options by putting cell in edit mode and typing part of an option to generate a list of valid matching options displays.

  • Click option with the mouse
  • Selects option, closes list and commits (single-select list)
  • Selects option, leaves list open for additional selections (multi-select list)
    Note: Pressing Enter on an already-selected option clears that option.

Arrow up/down to an option:

  • Enter, Tab or Shift+Tab
  • Selects option, closes list and commits (single-select list)
  • Selects option and closes list, leaving cell in edit-mode (multi-select list)
   
Removing an Option
  • (in edit mode) press the Delete or Backspace key
  • Click a selected option in the option list or press spacebar with the selected option highlighted.
   
Saving a Change

 

Note:

  • In the List, values in fields are saved when you leave the cell.
  • In the Add or Update pane, values in fields are saved on Save.
  • Enter, Tab, Shift+Tab
  • Selects option, closes list and saves change (single-select list)
  • Selects or deselects highlighted option, closes list, leaving cell in edit-mode. Second keystroke saves change (multi-select list)
  • Click another cell in the list
   
Canceling a Change
  • Esc cancels any change that has not been committed
    Note: Canceling does not invoke required field validation.
   
Input Validation
  • Leaving a blank required field untouched (unedited) does not trigger required field validation.
  • Deleting an existing value in a required field generates a validation error.
  • Entering an invalid value in a field (required or not) generates a validation error.
