Keyboard Shortcuts (general)

 

Keyboard users can take advantage of keyboard support when working in the workspace-level Task List and Item List views.

Note: When you first open one of these views you need to tab into it or click a row in order to use keyboard shortcuts.

Many of the below keystroke combinations are general and valid for most or all fields on Item List views.

Keyboard Shortcuts by function

Non-Editing Functions  
  • Select / Unselect (items)
  • Click (on a row)
  • Selects an item (row)
  • Shift+click
  • Selects a contiguous block of items (all items between the first and second item clicked)
  • Ctrl+click
  • Select non-contiguous items (each item clicked is selected)
  • Ctrl+a
  • Select all

  • Esc
  • Unselect rows (if not in edit mode)
  • Ctrl+click
  • Unselect a previously selected item
   
  • Add (insert) New Item
  • Insert

    Adds a new task or item

    Items are added to the list based on these rules:
  • Task List
  • New task is inserted above selected row (if sorted by # or Outline).
  • New task is inserted at bottom of the schedule (if no row selected or if sorted by any column besides # or Outline).
  • Dynamic Application Item List
  • New item is inserted at the appropriate place, based on sort order.

Filtering: If you have filtered your list, the new item may not be visible after you add it.

   
  • Delete (items)
  • Delete

    Deletes selected row(s)
   

Navigation / Miscellaneous

 
  • General
  • Right, left arrows, Tab, Shift+Tab
    Moves to next/previous cell (when not in edit mode)
  • Up, down arrows
    Moves to next/previous row (when not in edit mode)
  • Task-Specific
  • Spacebar

    Expands or collapses subtasks (when parent task is selected)
  • Shift+Alt+Left Arrow

    Outdents selected task(s)
  • Shift+Alt+Right Arrow

    Indents selected task(s)
   
Editing Functions  
  • Entering Edit Mode

    Note: Editable fields are automatically put in edit mode in the Add or Update panes.
  • Enter (with cell selected)
  • Double-click a cell
   
  • Creating new line (in a long text field)
  • Ctrl+Enter
    In the Task List and Dynamic Application Item List
  • Enter
    In long text fields in the Add/Edit/Update panes.
    Note: This also works in long text fields on the workspace Status Update window.
   
  • Selecting an Option

  • Up, Down arrows

Navigate the Percent Complete options when editing % Complete

   
  • Saving a Change

Note: Fields are saved on Save when using the Add or Update panes.

  • Enter, Tab, Shift+Tab

Commits typed value, then moves to next or previous cell (Shift+Tab)

   
  • Undo / Cancel / Clear
  • Esc
  • Undoes edit (while cell is in edit mode)
  • Clears filter criteria and shows all items (when focus is in Find box)
  • Del, Backspace
    Removes typed entry, character by character
   
  • Move cursor
  • Left, Right arrows
  • Move cursor one character forward or back (in edit mode)
  • Move to next/previous cell (not in edit mode)
  • Up, Down arrows
  • Move cursor to beginning or end of cell (in edit mode)
  • Move cursor up or down in list (not in edit mode)
