Importing Workspaces Overview

Importing multiple workspaces allows you to quickly populate a new enterprise with workspaces so users can begin using PPM more quickly, or to add a number of new workspaces related to a specific initiative.

Import workspaces using an import file of either Comma Separated Values (.csv) or Microsoft Excel (.xls) format. The import file should include any required fields for the workspaces you are importing, as well as other optional fields. For more information about required fields and valid data format, see Default Field Values and Valid Entries. As part of the import process you map fields from the import file to PPM fields.

Note: The more workspaces your import file contains the more slowly the import process will be. We suggest importing no more than 500 workspaces at a time.

The import process assumes you understand the required data for the workspace type for which you are importing workspaces. It also assumes that you know how data in your import file maps to PPM data. For more information, see Before You Import Workspaces.

To import workspaces, click Import on the Worksapce List View page to open the Import Wizard.

Important: The import wizard cannot determine if you are importing duplicate workspaces. If you reimport a file that includes data you previously imported (for example, a file in which you fixed errors), you may create duplicate workspaces. Delete any data you have successfully imported from the import file.

The Import workspaces Wizard includes seven steps. For help on any specific step in the wizard, click the step name:

Step 1 - Select Workspace Type | Step 2 - Select File to Import | Step 3 - Map File Fields to Changepoint PPM Fields | Step 4 - Specify Workspace Roles | Step 5 - Map Users | Step 6 - Preview | Step 7 - Summary
