Timesheets can include several different types of comments. Some are added when you submit a timesheet. Others can be added by the timesheet owner or by anyone else who has permission to view the timesheet (typically a resource manager, supervisor or project manager). In addition, you can add comments to tasks from a timesheet.
Understanding the different types of comments can help you take full advantage of them.
Types of Comments
These types of comments are available from a timesheet:
- Timesheet Comments
Add timesheet comments from the View toolbar. These comments are visible to anyone who is able to see the timesheet, including the timesheet owner, resource managers, supervisors, and project managers. For more information about adding timesheet comments, see Adding Comments to a Timesheet Before Submitting (for the timesheet owner), and Adding Timesheet Comments (for users other than the timesheet owner).
- Submit Comments
Add submit comments when you submit your timesheet. These are comments intended for the approver of the timesheet, and are only visible to the approver. Depending on how your enterprise is configured, you may or may not see the Timesheet Submit Comments dialog when you submit your timesheet. For more information, see Submitting a Timesheet for Approval
.
- Task Comments
Task comments are comments specific to a task and are visible to anyone who has the ability to view the task details. You can add comments to tasks from your timesheet. For more information, see Adding Task Comments.
