Moving a Task in the Schedule
|
Project managers may need to move tasks in a schedule for a variety of reasons. PPM gives you the ability to move tasks in multiple ways:
- In or out to change the indent level.
This type of move can make a task a child of a preceding task, or a parent of a succeeding task. For more information, see
- Up or down to change its location.
Changing a task location changes the number of the task. PPM lets you do this in several different ways:
- In the Task List
- In the Gantt Chart
- By number in the Task Details or Create New Task window
- Forward or backward in time.
To move a task forward or backward in time, edit its start and/or end dates:
- In the Task List
- In the Gantt Chart
- In the Task Details popup
Important: You cannot move a task if another user has the schedule checked out. In the Gantt Chart you must check the schedule out yourself in order to edit tasks, including to move them.
