Searching Your Enterprise
|
Use the built-in search capability at the top of the screen to quickly locate items in your enterprise. (Search is not available from the Administrative Zone.)
To get the most out of Search, you should understand these key aspects:
- How Search works—How you type search terms impacts how Search works.
For example, the number and order of search terms can change results.
- What fields are searched—Search does not have access to every data field in your enterprise.
Knowing which fields are searched can help you formulate a useful search.
- Searching a Data Subset—You can restrict the type of data that is searched. For example, if you know you are looking for a document, you can specify that Search only searches the PPM Documents application.
- Searching Archived items—Search does not search archived workspaces and the items they contain unless you specify an archive-specific search on the results page.
- Search limitations—Search can only search workspaces, items and applications for which you have access permission.
- Changing your search results—Search limits the number of results for any type of item to 50 (except for Documents, which display up to 100 items), so knowing how to control the results you get is important.
To search your enterprise:
- Click on the Search Icon in the upper right corner of the screen to open the search text box.
- In the search text box, type your search term(s).
- An occurrence of all your terms results in a match.
Note: Wildcards are assumed at the end of each term. See How Search Works for details.
- To indicate that just one of two terms is required for a match, use an OR qualifier between the terms.
For more information on usage, see How Search Works.
- To limit your search to a subset of data, based on application type, use the Data Type Options list. By default, only Workspaces are searched. For more details, see Search Data Type Options.
- Click the search icon.
- Results display on the Search Results page.
For information on Search Results page options, see Search Results.
